Husband and I went to Choke Canyon State Park here in Texas last Thursday. We found it very well maintained and ready for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. We saw this Roadrunner bird several times and while he was wary he didn't disappear completely. I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Estero Llano Grande State Park
Hubby and I went to Estero Llano Grande State Park! We are not able to hike but they have a Tram for visitors and it's wonderfully led by volunteer Winter Texans! They are so knowlegable and friendly! Here's a few pictures I took!
Above is the Yucca Plant in bloom! The bloom is edible!
This Cardinal was so bright and the guide told us there is a move to make it a new type cardinal.
I was taking Cormorant pictures and in post I saw the alligator in the grass!
Look closely this is a bird I'd never seen nor would I have this time. This is a Common Paraque.
White-Tailed Rabbit! Above and a Yellow Crowned Night Heron below! This park is wonderful!

Drizzle didn't fizzle our day!
Hubby and I went to Lake Corpus Christi State Park this morning. We saw several cardinals foraging around in grass and this one on the gravel.
This little brown bird had several buddies poking around in the pretty yellow flowers!
The picnic areas had nice covers and the grass was mowed. There were very few people out on a Thursday.
This beautiful hawk was watching us as much as we were him! Notice the water droplets!

Whooping Good Times
Hubby and I went back to the area east of the Goose Island State Park and we were so excited to see these Whooping Cranes coming in for a little grazing and vocalizing. It was a bright sunny day.
The fields there must be just right for a little feeding and cow watching. These birds are huge and don't seem to mind sharing the range with some cows!

Birds Were Elusive
Hubby and I went out to N.Padre Island or Padre Island National Seashore. There is a photo blind built on the bank of a pond and it has benches and various ports to set your camera in. It's just beyond the National Seashore entrance/toll booth!
Can you see this well hidden egret? I really appreciate our loving creators intelligence don't you? This Red Winged Blackbird above was not disturbed by our presence but the Yellow Headed Blackbird below was very shy and I didn't get much of a shot! But I was thrilled to get this. These were at the Loretta Turnbull Water Treatment plant in Aransas Pass, Texas

Goose Island trip
We went to our favorite site on Warbler Way in the park. There are two water drips and feeders which attract all sorts of birds. We captured this pretty Gray Catbird among others! We decided not to go at high noon because the action was slow at the feeders.
Out of the Goose Island State Park but just North of it we saw these Whooping Cranes! It was a pretty day and we saw other birders out and about. After this we went to Charlotte Plummer's restaurant a little after one o'clock and they weren't crowded then. Got a window by the water but a flat bed trailer was blocking a better view! Blog you later!
