Shrimp Fun!

Today my hubby Laurence and his long time friend, Bill Malone went to the CPL Fish and Shrimp Hatchery for their annual shrimp sell off! The men got some beautiful Pacific shrimp! These shrimp are a fast growing variety! Kept separate from the native shrimp they grow well in the controlled environment! We bought some of last years crop and they were great. Now comes the fun part! The heads need to be pinched off!

Maybe some of these will make it to our fish fry!

Hummingbirds

It’s been a long time since I signed in here. It has been very very hot and dry this summer in Corpus Christi, Texas. Right now the hummingbirds are thick! We have three Texas shaped feeders at the Laguna Shore Village RV Park! I love seeing the pretty little jets! They are very territorial. My parents have three feeders too! A bird owns one of their feeders we call fat boy! Actually it’s probably a female since it’s plain. I don’t like the sound of fat girl since I’m not too slim. Anyway back to fat boy that little bird wont let any others light on the feeder it considers its own. These photos are from my parent's front porch. I didn’t include fat boys feeder because it was less fun with only one bird!

I am so thankful that our loving father Jehovah gave his son Jesus, for our sins. You know Sunday we will celebrate the memorial of Christ's death. Look in your phone book for a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses to celebrate with us. I am also so thankful that my sister, Terrie and her daughter Shelly and Shelly's son Cade were not hurt in all the bad Tornadoes in Oklahoma last night! In a similar vein I am grateful for the beautiful Lily blooming in my courtyard. I guess I'm just plain happy!

Yellow Momma Cactus

This cactus was in bloom along Yorktown Road! I saw it on the way back from Andy's Country Kitchen.

Today's special was meatloaf! I had okra and broccoli sides. The split pea soup instead of salad was a smart choice, I enjoyed it immensely. As usual they give you a dessert and today's was bread pudding. You need to try Andy's Country Kitchen!

Most Wanted Signs

I never thought I would be putting bathroom writing on my blog! The bath house got a spring paint job! It looked so fresh and new that the doors looked drab. My friend who owns a sign company showed me his suggestions and man o man did he do a great job! Don't they look uptown! Auction Fun

We had a fun time at the 33rd annual Corpus Christi chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association! Our friend; also our insurance agent, Rebecca Root and myself and my husband Laurence saw some awesome trips and nice fishing and hunting equipment go for very reasonable auction prices. There were lots of different foods all very tasty. Lots of different adult beverages were provided too! I was the designated driver, so I drank soda. We spent a little money and had a great time bidding and socializing as well.

Husband took me and our friends the Henry's and their daughter Amber and her husband to lunch at Romano's Macaroni Grill Sunday! We had great service by Pam and my Parmesan Crusted Chicken Salad was wonderful! Look at this wonderful looking dish. I like the place for a lot of reasons! Pam kept us supplied with bread and beverages and she was very attentive! We came out so full one of our tires was low! We filled it up and drove home and this morning it was all the way flat!

Three Wheel Drive

We had some excitement this afternoon! A 1967 Camaro lost its wheel on the road in front of our Laguna Shore Village RV Park! We went out to watch as RV'ers like to do! Our park is usually a very quiet place! The tow truck made short work of scooping the primer painted hot rod. I was concerned about my newly enlarged drive way. It wasn't damaged at all. After all of that excitement some of the campers gathered for adult beverages and counseling. We counsel a lot around here! This type of thing could be traumatizing you know! See you soon!

Cheryl's Restaurant great food

Our friends Lee and Mary Ann took us to a really fun restaurant! The decor was strange and varied. The food was very well prepared. The picture with the heart in it was located above the door to the kitchen. The fish picture was hanging on one of the many short walls in and around the tables. There was an area with wrap around books and things children might enjoy and there was a long table that a family group was obviously enjoying and a secluded area with lamps around that looked out of an East Indian hideaway. There was an outside dining area too. The stuffed man in the chair was a surprise just inside the front door. I had to quit taking pictures to go eat! I'm glad I did because the food was very good! Maybe I will see you there!

Afternoon at the Spa

I had a great time this afternoon! I went to The Beach House Day Spa here on North Padre Island. The address is 14641 So.Padre Island Drive Suite A, and the phone number is 361.244.8354. Miranda Wiggins greeted me with the same cheery smile you see above in the red shirt. I had never had a massage or a facial or a mud wrap but I liked it! At first I was frustrated with the items they had for me to cover up with. They were one size fits all and I am not that all. But once we sorted that out Miranda guided me along and made me feel like a princess. The massage was so relaxing I didn't want it to end! The facial opened up by sinuses and my face is still glowing! My skin is baby soft after the mud wrap! I thoroughly recommend these people if you are in or around Corpus Christi, Texas

Old Time Color Hibiscus

Isn't this a great color! It really seems old fashioned like a pressed flower in a diary! I love it. With all this sunshine we have made several trips to Turner's Gardenland at 6503 S.Padre Island Drive phone number 361.991.9002. They sent the guys home with this beauty and several more. Hibiscus are the official flower of the city of Corpus Christi, Texas. I am so glad they picked this flower. Hibiscus' plural is Hibiscuses! Now you learned two new things! Birdy Sunrise over the Laguna Madre

The sunrise over the Laguna Madre are so pretty! I have learned to include a focal point such as the birds you see here in my photos! It give the eye somewhere to go! Spring Projects!

The warmer weather has inspired us! Trefor has been planting and pruning! Justin has been painting the deck a lovely silver color. Laurence and Trefor and Justin replaced a lot of boards that were soft. Fifteen years of wear and rain took their toll. I am so happy to get the new paint on. I hated the splotchy look!

The weather here is great! We are planting and painting too! We got our windows tricked out! One of our new Customers at the RV Park has started his own business. His business is called "Most Wanted" and he does vinyl graphics. This could be anything from company names on sides of vehicles or windows or even team names or slogans! He made the hibiscus flower graphics at my request! I am so pleased! I had him do one in white and one is white over turquoise. I like the two tone much better! Oyster Bounty of the Sea!

Our Friends Lee and Mary Ann got the wild idea to go get some fresh oysters and we would fix them for supper! They brought home a hundred pounds of live oysters in the shell! Laurence and Lee spent an hour or so shucking oysters. There is a special tool like a letter opener but thicker and stubbier, that you force into one end of the shell that splits the two halves. Then you swipe under the creature to seperate it from its anchor to the shell. We rinsed them and ate them until we were about to pop! Marianne fixed a dozen as Rockefeller style and wow were they good! I should have taken a picture of them! They were pretty to see and scrumptious to eat!

Fresh Fresh Blue Crabs

Our new friends Lee and Mary Ann invited us over for Blue Crabs! It was so much fun! Of course these pictures are backwards but oh well! It seems brutal but we have always dropped the live crabs into boiling water. I have been told they can be toxic if allowed to die and then cooked! So this first picture is of the end result of the meal our hosts provided.

This pot is filled with boiling water with spices and then the live crabs are dropped in.

Tongs are necessary because these blue crabs are very nimble and their pinchers will hurt you bad if you mishandle them! Even though I have eaten crabs many times I had several holes in my fingers and slices in my skin after eating my share. The shell is sharp and the pinchers have little horns on them! These crabs are becoming more plentiful lately here in the Laguna Madre body of water we live close to. If you get the chance, try some blue crabs for dinner. You will need an experienced person to guide you, because there are a lot of parts inside there that you shouldn't eat. They are very delicately flavored and some dip them in melted butter but Marianne made a wonderful sauce for us!

Anniversary Number Fifty Nine

We had a great time Sunday night! We tricked Mom and Dad into being at my Sister's house! The purpose of the gathering was to celebrate our paying the final payment on the RV Park! That's what we told the folks but we got a big cake and celebrated their 59th anniversary with them! They left town on the 23rd of December which was their actual anniversary, so we had to play catch up! We had fun putting one over on them! We feel each day is a bonus! I hope you all do too!

Super Fish Fun

Our New friends Josh and Carrie went fishing on a big boat yesterday! This Spinner Shark and
these King fish were a lot of fun for them to catch! I am so proud of them for not sitting around
whining about wishing they were catching fish! They asked questions and then got out there and caught some! Life is like that. You have to go for the things you really want! I hope all of us learn a lesson from them!

My whiteish rose is opening up in such a beautiful way! It has ten buds waiting! You can see one peeking out between the petals! It loves the clean flower bed and wonderful sunny days we are having in Corpus Christi now! I feel sorry for anyone not here to enjoy! I wanted to share the bloom with you and brag on our weather! Blooming in December Troublesome Tony

Tony the Tiger cat loves to play in the red mulch of the garden square. He thinks he is prettier than the other ornaments. Jetty suffers from wrong side of the glass syndrome. If she's in she wants out and visa versa. Sometimes she just likes to look from the safety of the office windows. The white rose is so pretty and there are lots more buds on the bush. They don't know it is December 21st and they are supposed to rest now! See you next blog! Gotta go!

Rat the Cat

This store, in Port Aransas Texas, the Connoisseur has a cat named Rat! She is a gorgeous calico with a lovely disposition! The store personnel were extremely friendly too! The lady at the counter told me that when the kitten was younger and wet she looked like a drowned rat thus the name! This store has every imaginable coastal themed decorator item. Most of the items are of high quality and
fine workmanship. I fell in love with the coastal switchplate covers that I had searched for in many places. I really enjoyed shopping in this huge exhibit of all things nauticle! When I go to Port Aransas again I want to look some more to see what's new!

Gratitude Store

Hello you guys! This is a store we found Saturday in Port Aransas, TX. I never saw a store quite like it. There was this wonderful lady with a happy laugh! She was nice to talk to and we felt very welcome! Reminded me of Phyllis Diller. There was so much stuff to look at I have to go back! There was a bubble blowing machine on the front porch. Betcha haven't seen one of those before. There were items from all different years and dollar amounts! The name of the store is Gratitude. Her card says Island's Most Eclectic Shoppe and I concur. Aransas Pass Candy Store

Today we went to Aransas Pass,Texas! We had a great time. My favorite place to visit there is Winton's Candy Store. I was sad and glad to find out they are tearing down the old building but happy to see the new bright green building going up next door! It looks like the change over will be fast and tasty! The flowers are really looking good now! We are having a beautiful day. The hibiscus is putting on blooms like crazy in the first picture. The next picture is showing all the new buds in waiting. And the last picture is showing my bloom on the rose bush that was yellow when we planted it. I think the bees were working both bushes at the same time. Service Dogs

We have some very nice customers in the park today, Carrie and Josh Holt. They are accompanied by two special dogs! Shorty is the white Pit Bull and Baxter is the Red Lab. These two dogs are highly skilled service animals. Carrie has diabetes and the canines are trained to sense when she is in distress and help her! I have been up close and personal with these campers because I love animals and I enjoy puppy kisses! When on or off duty these hounds are very affectionate and energetic. Shorty could be the ambassador for Pit Bulls and teach the world how loving they can be when raised with love and discipline. I am really glad to know these folks and introduce them to you!

Yellow Kitty Tony and A New Camera

Today I am showing off my new yellow kitty and my new Olympus E-620 dslr camera!

Tony is a male kitten that showed up about two months ago. He loves to be scratched and has a very loud purr ! I really enjoy him. The rocks he is sitting on are full of fossils. Those rocks make a good encasement for the Gold Fish pond fountain.
The silly kitten has a big yawn and he loves to chew on his cloth toys tied to string. Husband says he doesn't like the cat but he has been caught petting him!
Things are hectic here at the RV Park this time of year! January and February are usually our peak business! Lots of people bring their pets and we enjoy seeing them walking around the park! Today is so sunny we have people sunbathing. Not like the northern states! I better let you go. I hope you enjoyed meeting Tony Cat!

Doughboy's Uniform

Hey everybody! Look at this WWI Doughboy uniform. My friend Don Williams has it pants,leggings, belt and coat for sale! It is in remarkable condition. He is getting his information together to list it on ebay but he hasn't done it yet! He just wants $300. for it as is! I like the way he knows about the patches and the way the leggings were worn and the history behind it all! He says the patches like they are, hand sewn and the belt buckle with the little green oxidation on it are the original conditions and should not be polished to make it sell. Seems to affect the value and authenticity. It makes me feel like I stepped back in time! He also has a field manual from 1914 that he's willing to part with! The place is a beehive around the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Laurence is going to fry a couple of turkeys and they will be so moist! Got to go, be good!

Full Time RV Park Full

It's been a great year for us at Laguna Shore Village! The park is full and the people are glad to be where it's shorts and tees for the dress code. We are more full than usual for this time of year. Our grass sites are pretty and green too! The Hibiscus flowers are so full of blooms today! Everyone gets out and visits in this kind of weather. Laurence watched his final NASCAR race today and so now on to more football. He is frying two turkeys for our guests Thursday and they will be so moist, he injects them with Cajun butter! Can't wait!

Ranch Hand Breakfast

I went to the King Ranch's Ranch Hand Breakfast this morning! A couple of our camper guests and friends went along too, Trefor from Canada and Don from Missouri! We had a real good time. The band was playing old songs and I always like that!

The cowboys were roping calves in the arena and that was very exciting! I cheered for the calves that got away. The cowboys were making a galant effort but the calves were very elusive. It was bright on the other side of the arena so my photos had to be over exposed to capture the events. They had demonstrations of weaving and cooking in the ground going on in different areas. It's a yearly event in Kingsville, Texas

Great Catching Day on the Southern Laguna Madre

My husband Laurence and his fishing buddies went down the Laguna Madre in his Majek; pronounced My Yak, boat. They had a great time and saw tons of fish. The weather was great too! We have a long fish photographing board but they caught more than we had hangers for. Husband thinks Redfish are the best fish so he hung them and a couple of the black drum. We are getting lots of Winter Texan visitors at our RV Park now! It's cold there!

A Beautiful Sunrise over The Laguna Madre

Today is a bittersweet day! On this anniversary of 911 I could feel very sad. This beautiful sunrise gives one cause for joy and appreciation. The emotional healing is ongoing and we have so many things to be appreciative about. We have many loved ones and we need to show them we cherish them. We should look into our Bible and remember that it's writer, our grand creator, had a plan from the beginning and that Adam and Eve's sin, while causing us much suffering, did not change God's plan for a paradise earth with perfect people! I look forward to that time in the very near future. So that's energizing to me! Bye!

Rain and Wind from Hermine

Getting lots of calls for Winter Reservations! I think it's gonna be a great season! I am getting ready to paint the wreck Room! I love a freshly painted room! I'm thinking canary yellow or a blue shade. The possibilities are endless! You take down all the old and take a new look at what you put back or what you don't put back! I want to clear away some discouraging things from last year and look forward to the new friends and return of old friends and experiences that are bound to be here very soon! The weather here has been exciting! We had lots of rain from Tropical Storm Hermine. Parts of Texas like Dallas got Tornadoes. I'm glad we only received copius moisture! The RV we live in was really rocking one night. But it's all fine now. Ya'll need to call us when you hear alarming reports from the Weather Channel! They have to get people excited to get ratings I guess. All the flowers enjoyed their drinks. They do so much better on rain than on city water! Had to go to the Dermatologist today. Mom said the bump on my nose was growing. Being the good daughter I said I would have it looked at. Of course the good Doctor Carmen Casas took it off and sent it in. Now I will probably be hounded by talent scouts for my flawless good looks! What a pain! Perhaps they wont notice me here in Lower Flour Bluff. I better go it's five o'clock here! You know what that means don't you? Oh yeah, Momma's little Scooby Doo dauschund mix was puny yesterday so Mom took him to the vet and he is much better today! We are so glad!

HOLIDAY RAMBLINGS

Our friends visited this weekend in their 5th wheel RV. We had a better weekend than we expected because we had to stay near the park so our friends came to us! We grilled steaks one night and fried fish and shrimp the other night! Their RV is so neat and clean but it is smaller than they need. They want one with slides. This one is a 1998 Alumascape Deluxe by Holiday Rambler. It has an adapter to a Gooseneck fitting. The appliances are all original and work great! It is a tandem axle and has a 32" flat screen tv with a dvd player and a am/fm/ipod stereo on the wall. They just want to recoup their cost of $6995.00. I took a lot of pictures of the inside and out also. I had to be creative to keep myself out of the pics because there is lots of mirrors in the bathroom. I was surprised it has a bath tub! It never was smoked in and no pets have been in it! It would easily sleep six. We put it on Craigslist here in Corpus Christi and I learned to upload only a pic or two at a time! It has been raining off and on all day! We are getting some rain from tropical storm Hermine! Hopefully it will stay away from Laguna Shore Village RV Park!

New Camera Wrapper

I ordered this wrap from Skooba Design. I love it! These pictures show it's usefulness to me for wrapping my camera in it! Raindrops are Falling!

It is raining some this morning. The clouds are filled with potential thunder and lightening. Be that as it may the clouds are beautiful to me. I am not trying to make a living outdoors and I am not trying to harvest a crop. I am not out on the water so the thunder is musical to me. Nearby towns are getting lots of rain today from this same system.
The beautiful hibiscus flower seems to have sequins attached by our mighty creator Jehovah.

I have been playing with my iphone four today and I like the results. I hope you enjoy.

Red Snapper Haul!

Don Williams was one happy camper yesterday! He caught two huge Red Snapper fish. He went fishing in the Gulf of Mexico on a fishing boat! He helped some nice people land theirs and they gave him their fish because they were going home to Austin and didn't think they could keep them!

There were dozens of tiny baby toads on the porch and around the fish pond this morning! We've been having rain and conditions must have been right for them! I hope they eat the baby mosquitos! We have been having mosquitos for a couple of weeks, due to the rain! We really need the rain but not the mosquitos. I guess we are never totally satisfied!

Hot Stuff at Laguna Shore Village RV Park!!!

We are so happy! The men from Dave's Asphalt Paving and Construction are fixing our road around the RV Park! They really work hard and don't put off the job! The job has been going as fast as the weather has allowed! We had some broken spots and age was getting to the rest! They are strongly recommended by us! Check the web site www.davesasphaltpaving.com or cal 361-815-3646. This company did our original road in 1996. We dug through places for expansion and renovations. Mr. Dave is a on site supervisor so he knows the job is done right!

I'll post more when progress is evident! Keep watching! We will be so ready for the Winter Texans and we are so glad we have two driveways!

High Tides on N.Padre Island!

Hubby and I went driving on N.Padre Island this afternoon. We saw lots of high water because of the latest tropical depression. #2 is what they are referring to this one by. These pictures are evidence that money does not buy brains. These people are driving in salt water to go fishing. There is no way to calculate the expenses they will have later because of this. Brakes will be the early casualty then all other troubles come along! The high water was up under the bridge way higher than usual! There were lots of people out enjoying the sunshine! The roads in Port Aransas were full but traffic was moving well! We enjoyed the drive and made it back to the Sonic for a Large Lime Slush! Talk to you later!

Yesterday about 6pm I saw this section of a double rainbow! It was a pleasant way to end the day! We were going indoors to dine and when we came out it had disappeared! So glad my Iphone four was able to capture the delicate hues of Jehovah's promises that the rainbow signifies. I love to see them.

Laguna Shore Village RV Park Driveway!

What a wonderful improvement to our RV Park! We had our driveway repaired! It is now wider and safer for the big RV's to use! Laguna Shores Road has been under a huge load of traffic and like all cities the budget of Corpus Christi has not allowed for wholesale paving repairs. Our contractor came out and did a really good job! We are so pleased!

GYM BEAU PREMONT

I went to Southern Paper and Chemical Store, which is our janitorial supply house, here in Corpus Christi, TX. I met this lovely cat there! His name is Gym Beau Premont! He was at a gym in Premont when the men from Southern Paper and Chemical were refinishing the gym floor! He has grown fatter and more playful every day since! I love companies that love animals, don't you.

Padre Island National Seashore

Today started off great and got better! My parents went with me to see one occurance of the Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle hatchlings being released! The sea weed was parted to make an easy pass to the water! At the Ranger's knees are all the little critters warming in the rising sun!

The volunteers and the Padre Island National Seashore employees brought some of the little turtles around to all of us assembled. We got to take close up pics and see just how small and perfectly designed they are! Some of the volunteers had bamboo poles with streamers on top to ward off any curious sea gulls. Sea gulls love to dine on baby turtles. The sky was so pretty! There were rain clouds with the sun peeking through and around to make me so happy I live here! The pelicans were passing high overhead and I wondered how many were from Louisiana!

Mom and Dad are always up for an adventure and especially like to go to the beach! I told them about the release scheduled for this morning and they went yesterday to scout out where it was and how to get there!

We went to Sugarbakers for lunch today! It was a very nice dining experience. All over one wall of the building was every theme and color of cake you can imagine and some I never would have. They make and sell them there! The lunch was very well prepared. I had a chicken pot pie and a beautiful green salad! I liked the variety of green and red lettuce and spinach leaves too. There was a cup of chicken vegetable soup that was tastefully seasoned. Our server Kim was flitting around like a hummingbird in a flower garden. I really look forward to going back! I really enjoyed making this necklace of baby blue shades! It has glass tiger eye beads and wire wrapped beads and a toggle closure that makes it so easy to fasten! The focal point is a metal butterfly with several blue colors on it!

Today Tropical Storm Ida pushed more high tide onto Laguna Shores Road. This shows how the water is over Lola Johnson road because it is lower than Laguna Shores Road! Mom and Dad have to go through the ginky weeds behind their house to get over to another road! To drive through water like the woman in this picture is will bring an early death to your automobile. I went to San Antonio, Texas for a second Special Assembly Day! I really enjoyed the trip and the folks I went with! We learned a lot and afterwards went to eat at Carabbas! That is a first class restaurant in San Antonio. Try it!

Saturday we went to Robert Peterson's memorial service. Very nicely done by Preston Nichols. Today we got a lot of rain! We still need more. Red and Annie, Mom and Dad, surprised Laurence and me with a cake and card for our 36th wedding anniversary and we all sat around and enjoyed a piece of that! Never saw it coming! Viki and Steve were accomplises I'm sure. Scoobie Doo the dog just watched obediently!

South Texas Botanical Gardens Improved

This afternoon I went to the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center
I really enjoyed the Orchid building again and took lots of pics. They recently built and populated a butterfly garden!

Outside was this beautiful Bird of Paradise Plant in bloom! You really need to visit this place. The five dollar entrance fee was a good value for all the work they've put into these gardens!

We went to the car races Sunday night at South Texas Speedway at 6701 Old Brownsville Road. It was a lot of fun! The bleacher were situated so that the sun was setting to our left and the moon was rising on our right! What a tranquil contrast to the loud cars !

The cars were coming out of a turn right in front of us! Slipping ever closer to the cement barrier between the track and us! It was evident that a sponsor dealing in sheet metal repairs or graphics or welding would be sought after by those guys! They were swapping paint and waving at each other a lot! We had a lot of excitement from the collisions! Thankfully no apparent injuries! The infield crew were pros at keeping debris off the track. Another late night so I'm definitely gonna try to catch up on my z's tonight!

Went to the Corpus Christi Hooks Ball Game Saturday Night! They play at Whataburger Field here in Corpus Christi when they are in town! This night aMariachi band played several times!
What a beautiful night it was too! The clouds were multicolored from the sunset and the temps weren't too sultry! If you look at the lower left sign board you will see a number 90 signifying the pitch speed! Pretty fast!
They had a picture taking op out front with a hole for a face but no one in our group would help so I just cropped this shot for memories! We really enjoyed the game more because Corpus Christi won 3 to 1 over the San Antonio Mission! Wooooo Hooooo!!!

I really enjoy cruising Laguna Shores Road here in Corpus Christi and looking at all the various types of shore birds. I needed a lift Saturday morning. My mom's dog got attacked the night before by javelina in the brush by their home. Spokes died that night and we really miss her. She sure did love chasing critters.

Last weekend we had a convention of Jehovah's Witnesses at the American Bank Center and guess who came! I was so happy to have my Daddy sitting there with Mom and me. My heart was full! The program was very good! A lot of information to digest. Some old and some new thoughts but all good reminders! The theme was Keep on the Watch! I intend to be more focused on personal study and on taking opportunities to witness to people who show interest!

Deer Crossing

This morning apprx. 6:30 am I was driving and watching along Laguna Shores Road to see the deer Laurence saw last night! Awesome! There they were, two adults and two fawn. Then I looked further into the dim light and there was a taller one probably a buck! Then a city bus went by and three more ran further into the wooded area! I was so thrilled! A old man was walking by and he had ear plugs in probably from a radio! He was very happy that I got his attention and showed him the critters! I hope they are careful along the roads! I hope the people are observant too! Sorry the light did not allow pictures. You'll just have to get up early like me!

Jetty the dog stalker is not too pleased with being my model but she has so much catitude don't you think? I was playing with the controls of my on camera flash. I used a slower flash speed which I can determine on my Olympus E520. It lights up the background more.

Next you have a picture of my 85 year old Daddy, Red, on his motorcycle. He and my mother met riding motorcycles. I am so glad to see him out enjoying life.

New Bulletin Boards

There will be small advertisements on the outer edges and we will use the center for our park activities! Isn't that a smart idea! Jetty is an older long haired lady cat that believes she runs the Laguna Shore Village RV Park. I tell people she has catitude. She was watching me take the bee picture you'll see today!

I never thought I'd be proud of a puddle, but it has been so long since we had rain I am showing this one today!

This was some kind of bee in my butterfly garden! No butterflys but I take what comes! The rain from last night has cooled down temps and I believe if you listen you can hear the grass cheering while it is peeking out of the dirt!

Emergency Room Trip!

We had a big scare yesterday. My Mom accidentally took Daddy's blood pressure pill and she was feeling all tingly on her right side. I called the Doctor and he said she would be ok to just rest and take a baby aspirin for good measure. The tingling and numbness came back on her three times. She was scared to wait so we went to the emergency room and they took blood, a chest exray and a ekg and a cat scat. She was all ok so they sent her home and she is great today! Long day and a good result! We are so glad! Have a good day and love your family like it's your last chance!

One of our campers from Missouri named Dean caught this frog. He was very gentle with the frog. At least he was gentle while holding him. I'm sure the little creature didn't jump into Dean's hand. There is something so textbook boy about catching frogs. I hear tell he is just as good at catching lizards too! He puts them back and lets them go home to play another day. If we had any rain we would want that toad to catch the mosquitos for us! But alas no rain so yea no mosquitos!

Steve and Viki had company from Missouri this week. Laurence took them fishing. The Laguna Madre provided better fighting fish than they were used to. They had never sight fished either. They enjoyed themselves tremendously! Dont you think the pink bath house is a good background. I had a hard time getting hubby to fasten the sign fish hanging board where I wanted it but it is a good way to advertise with all the fish pictures our customers want! I get the men to tilt their hats up to keep the shadows off their faces. I had a hard time getting all four men fit on the picture with all the fish they caught! I use an Olympus SLR and I sure do like it!

Bird Convention

This morning along the East shore of the Laguna Madre the birds were having a Convention. I saw Egrets, Sea Gulls, Pelicans and Spoonbills. It reminded me of the Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses to be held August 21st 22nd and 23rd at the American Bank Center here in Corpus Christi. There will be lots of people from all walks of life. Jehovah must like variety as evidenced by his beautiful creations. I do appreciate that so much. We are enjoying a nice warm day here. Take care and thanks for viewing my views!

I received the clothes dryer vent! I was worried that my bargain hunting might prove fruitless. I wanted a good price and a good product! I got both! Thanks to the people mentioned in the previous post. I gave all the phone numbers there! Had a nice lunch with my Sister Terrie and her daughter Sandra and her daughter Sophia. Today I decided to stop putting it off and order a new lint screen for one of the laundry room dryers. I called Sears and gave them the part number from my Kenmore parts list that came with the dryer. Sears wanted $31.99 for the screen plus $10.99 freight. I also called Appliance Parts Depot and they wanted $39.49 and I forgot to ask what freight would be. Then finally I called Appliance Parts Pros at 1-877-477-7278 and their price was $25.63 plus 4.95 economy freight. That was quite a savings. I got this company's name from a Google search and I am so glad I did! we all know price is not the only consideration but if the part is right I will feel pretty smart! It's hot and dry here in South Texas but I'm still glad to be alive and well at Laguna Shore Village RV Park!

The memorial service for Chandra was well attended and gave us a chance to see many friends and family that had spread out all around the country. Chandra's son Holland and Husband Robert were there along with her parents and sisters, and well supported. I took some pics and got and gave lots of hugs. At these times we think about what name we are leaving. Brother Henry gave a very kind and upbuilding discourse. These occasions take their toll on all of us. Soon we will only look back on these times. Armageddon will be here soon.

Memories

Today I blog in sorrow. For myself and my remaining friends which includes her family. My friend Chandra Dawn Martin Peterson will be memorialized this day. She died at only 50 years old last week. Her fifty years had a lot of joy and a lot of sorrow. She was one of the best wedding and event planners but she wasn't well very often. She had an infectious laugh and a kind heart. Jehovah will keep her in his memory until the resurrection.

On the road again!

Mom and Dad are on the road again. They just through in some skivies and some groceries that won't keep and take off! This time to San Antonio. Daddy has another cancer spot on his nose to get taken care of! Dr. Lee is very skilled on this type of work. He did the last excavation. Daddy has been feeling alot better lately. Hubby is fixing up their boat so they hopefully will be out getting wet in the Laguna Madre soon. I say hopefully because Daddy has been so sick that boating would mark more improvement. I'll try to get a picture of the finished windshield project when it is done. It's still very hot and dry here in South Texas, but we make the best of it, by being happy there are no mosquitos. Our friend Don was singing take me out to the ball game when I snagged this iphone picture! We had a lot of fun at the CCHooks game at Whataburger Field! They are so good about having lots of variety going on when the players are changing sides or whatever they call it! I love to go there!

I went to the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.

The people there were very nice! The entry fee was $5.00 and I could see why. Here in Corpus Christi we are in a drought. To keep all those plants so gorgeous there were lots of people watering. I enjoyed my tour of the Larkin Memorial Orchid House. I have given you pictures of a few of the blooms! I really like orchids. I am so looking forward to the Butterly House is being added to the showcase. It will probably be a sensory delight too when it is populated! My knee was really throbbing so I left with regrets but I will go back! Thanks for visiting!

I went to the dentist yesterday and on the way home I noticed a sweet little bruise on my upper left lip! No wonder I was uncomfortable while they had all the equipment in my mouth! Today my amaryllis put out another beautiful bloom! I really enjoy looking at them. They are more beautiful than any human creation could ever be! We (Me and my friends Viki and Denice went over the John F. Kenedy causeway coming back from North Padre Island and the sunset was gorgeous! I had to pull over and it was tricky to get the shot without lots of cars in it! We live in a beautiful place. Most of us have beauty in our life if we stop to see and appreciate it! Today I am so happy my Lilly is blooming again! I went out this morning to see such a regal bloom. I played with the light coming through the foliage and petals. It's going to be another warm day here in Corpus Christi Texas. I'm not sure about the proper name for this bloom but I call it a Lilly. My customers/friends from Sudbury in Canada left it here when they went home.

Tonight our friend from Victoria Texas will be visiting so it will be adult beverages on the veranda for the crew (I'm driving) and dinner out! Found out one fun camper is leaving and one new camper came in! People come and go in our life and the most we usually retain is a few stories and snapshots. From my friend Barney I have received much more than that and I hope to stay in touch by reading his blog, wherever he may wander!

Viki our campground hostess got into one of her moods. She wanted to paint the west wreckroom wall green! I said sure! It looks so bright and fun! Now just how many times do you see plastic lobsters and octopi on business walls! Laguna Shore Village RV Park is one of a kind. We enjoy the water front and the beach near by. Viki's hubby is very handy and can put together her visions of design! The two cats did not like the rearrangeing one little bit. They felt lost and had to seek out new hiding places now! Lazy Summer Days

It's been very warm here in Corpus Christi, TX but we are used to it! Our bright yellow hibiscus with the red center mimic the sun today! They require daily watering but they richly reward us! Hibiscus is the officical flower of Corpus Christi! It's hard to get much done but we'll catch up in the fall when it's cooler. Even Doodles the Cat wouldn't get off my desk and go to work! We have a little Recreational Vehicle RV park here and it's a very pleasant way to make a living. The people are on vacation and all they want is a kind word a picknic table and a clean bath house. As you can see Wilomena the cactus likes the hot weather we are having in Corpus Christi, Texas. Howdy Ya'll, Mom, Dad, Laurence and I, all went to my sister Terrie’s daughter Sandra’s newly built home in Aransas Pass, Texas to celebrate my sisters 30 wedding anniversary. They boiled crabs and shrimp and sausage along with new potatoes, and corn. Their house is small but very well arranged. I like it!

I've been busy with my photography hobby. I took some great classes in June. I got the privilege of being asked to take pictures at a school for Jehovah's Witnesses that are pioneers. Finished that today and it was a great experience. Never had done that before. I was so tickled to be given that assignment.

Yesterday our friends and co-hosts Steve and Viki grilled hot dogs and burgers and made potato and pasta salad and we along with several of the other campers had chips and dip too, all enjoyed in the cool Wreck Room!

Today was Viki’s birthday. Steve bought her a very nice bracelet and a very sweet card too! She and I are the same age now! Steve and Laurence are keeping the flowers blooming and the courtyard pretty and green. They put a spigot at the fish cleaning table so we don't have to wrangle the garden hoses around so much. Now that Steve has become a fish-aholic too he wants to put a screened enclosure around the cleaning table for mosquito season. Shows his priorities don't you think! Talk to you soon!

Assignment of Privilege

I had a wonderful experience Wednesday the First of July. I was invited to take pictures of a group of friends that are devoting large amounts of time to preaching about God's Kingdom. Jehovah's Witnesses call them pioneers. It was heart warming to see the appreciation shown by them for the simple lunches and the in depth knowledge they were taking in. I hope they like their pictures as much as I have enjoyed taking them. I cropped some to 8 x 10 and 5x7. I use an Olympus E520 and RAW format.

Photo Class Portraits

Today was a great learning day! I went to my final class at the Corpus Christi Art Museum. I left all my pretty portraits I had for the class at home by mistake! So I had to listen to the instructor go over everyones pictures except mine. The light came on in my head. Barney had been right. There is no right or wrong way to take pictures. I wanted to lessen wrinkles with light and The instructor liked wrinkles! Go figure. The interesting styles included one student who used venition blinds to make a pattern that was interesting and lessened the light on his portrait of his wife. I also found out that I had the most helpful models of all. One lady had to promise ice cream and one man said his wife got more cooperative with wine! I am going to carry this class and it's lessons with me always. Thanks for listening!
